Significance of Akshaya Trithiya

Shri Krishna's poor Brahmin friend, Sudama, once visited the former's palace with a fistful of flattened rice (poha). (For the uninitiated, here's a piece of information: Sudama had secretly consumed Shri Krishna's share of the food during childhood. Hence, he wanted to return the portion and rid himself of the guilt).

Shri Krishna wholeheartedly accepted the humble offering and silently showered his friend with fortunes. In the end, Sudama's misery ended, and he became a wealthy man. This occurrence happened on the Tritiya Tithi, Vaishakha, Shukla Paksha and hence the significance.

On this auspicious occasion we hope that your life fills with abundance of everything.

Wishing you and your near and dear ones a very Happy Akshaya Trithiya.
